BM-Volvo LM 218 / Bolinder-Munktell LM 218. A successor to the H-10 was the LM 218. It was first presented in 1959 and became a great export product. As a matter of fact, it initiated the export of construction equipment as a whole. A great step forward was taken with LM 218. It left the tractor stage behind once and for all.
Volvo had begun partnerships in Bolinder-Munktell in the 1940s and purchased BM enitrely in 1950. The Bolinder-Munktell name was retained until the 1970s when the Volvo BM brand came into use. Volvo entered the tractor market by teaming up with Swedish tractor manufacturer Bolinder-Munktell in 1943. The tractors from both firms were similar, and Volvo acquired Bolinder-Munktell in 1950.
